  1. One would have to be deaf, dumb and blind not to notice that one board is going down, as this one reaches dizzier heights.

Maybe it's temporary, and as I echoed EXACTLY what you said, TWP, that whilst this board is more cosmopolitan, all forums offer their own positives.

But yeah, as we speak, another forum is down. I go there less and less. It's a shame, but inevitable perhaps. This is where the fun is at, at least for now!

BTW, newbies, fill out your locations, please. :)

(Jeez, look at us in the State of Florida. I'm practically sitting on JFreeman's lap!)

  2. FRIDAY

Maxmilian bought the little-known Toscana Vacchetta in Amber, and wanted to see how it would look like on his blue-faced PAM. Here I am showing him the same strap, on my versatile PAM 177h.

    pam177maxiamber1sf3.jpg

Liked the look so much, I'll wear it Friday. B)

    pam177flowersxz6.jpg

The Toscanas are beautifully-made straps. Thing is, I have almost all of them, so waiting for Daily Specials I can buy, sucks!

    SATURDAY

Remember this? Some of your retinas are still recovering...

For the record, I'd like to apologise to all the Paneristi on these boards for having inflicted this choice of strap on such a watch.

    Now THAT'S more like it!

Manifatture Firenze's Hammered brown calf leather strap with brown stitch. The grain is so gorgeous, and soft...yum.

Honour the Fiddy and 217, if you wear it, people.

    SUNDAY

As you know, this week was hard for my family. We're getting back, but I'm still not at 100%. So on Sunday, I'm going to church, to give thanks for our blessings, whilst wearing this fun watch with baby blue grosgrain D-ring strap.

The Lord doesn't need to be impressed by my watches. He's cool. ^_^

  3. Just curious if you've made a decision?

BTW - GEF for my vote...

I will let the poll run until Friday, 11:59 PM EDT. It's tight! :)

    I got a 2 fer -

Mario Paci 4 "The Submercitore" Tan

Mario Paci Special Edition "Allora a Ora" in Senape

THE SENAPE! You won't regret it. I have heard good things about the Submercitore, but I stay away from it since I consider it (like the Natale) a TOUCH too masculine for me.

P.S. - Glad to hear all is well...

Thanks, AA1! He's sleeping soundly in his own bed tonight, surrounded by his family. God has granted us another extension...anyway, thanks baby. :)

  4. Guys, sorry to revive an old post, but a question:

I bought this NATO "Zulu" G10 strap for my 24mm PAMs -- 2 rings.

    zulug102ringun0.jpg

But I noticed that Predsfan has this one, with 4 rings.

    nato4ringml0.jpg

Which is better, looks better, or is authentically a "G10" strap? Or can they all be called Zulu, NATO, or G10 straps, it just depends on design?

EDIT: Please note that of course, I read Timepiece's historical redaction, and By-Tor's followup quoted by TP. Also, I learnt how to fit these straps, with 3 rings, in this handy guide by Puggy. (Just in case any newbies are around reading this for the first time). What I mean is, on Fleabay, there seems to be no one term for ONE specific kind -- but are all used to describe all versions.

I planned to wear this with my PAM 076, the "maiale" engraved watch, or the PAM Lion Purdey.

I think I prefer the one with 4 rings, so I'm off to order another on Fleecebay. :(

  5. I am not a NASCAR fan but, I did learn today that the Army, Navy, and now the NG are all full or part sponsors! Perhaps as Pug suggested, the military units have an advertising budget and the demographics justify the expense. It can cost several million dollars to keep a NASCAR team in operation for a year. I suppose that in the grand scheme of things, that is small potatos in the total military budget.

    NASCAR sponsors. :)

    Amongst them:

    # United Auto Workers

    # United Parcel Service

    # United States Air Force

    # United States Army

    # United States Coast Guard

    # United States National Guard

    # United States Navy

Oddly enough, Moveon.org is missing.

  6. :o:huh::(:yuk: AAEeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii....... :bangin: .... NOOOOOOOoooooooo ..

It's totally fine for anybody to wear a Panerai.. but Pink straps in any gender on a Panerai should be 86'd... Banned ... don't dooo .... nooooooo

I am neither sexist or racist... it's ok to be Gay or straight..... as long as your not Bi-sexual.. their just plain greedy..

BUUTTT NOOOOoooo not a pink strap :Jumpy:

Ok, Ok .... I'm ok now  ... but NNOOOOOooooooo

    :feedtroll3pr:

    :victory:

  7. OOH! Sorry, Khumzi...I've been busy today, as I will tomorrow, but I finally saw this other post calling out to me.

OK, so here’s the thing. I’m a psychotherapist

My mum too. This is why I'm so messed up. :p

and I’m worrying about wearing a PAM. It’s not exactly a low statement watch…

On the wrong person, Panerai watches can look gimmicky. If my father were at all into PAMs, and were doing hospital rounds with them, I would actually think they would look out of place, to be TOTALLY honest.

    Patients want reassurance.

There is this medical doctor dad knows who does sock-puppet tricks when checking his patients (no, not a paediatrician, which would PERHAPS make sense), and wears kipper ties as part of his "bedside manner".

Sure, some enjoy it, but most of the people look at him like he's a freak. Even the nurses don't take him that seriously.

In your case, err on the conservative side. It's STILL Panerai, and therefore SUPER-COOL!

I suppose I could not get one or only wear it out of office hours but the thing is that I’d really like one and to wear it. I have the dreaded bug, the irrational desire, the school kid in the toyshop syndrome… I’m a PAMoholic and strap fetishist in the making!

First, whichever PAM you choose, even the pricey DSN or modded TWP ones, I can assure you will turn around a few months later, and buy the other choice you give us below, SO, with that in mind.

So, I would really appreciate your advice: a 111 or a 117?

The 117 is less “in your face” but is it missing the whole point of the Panerai ethos?

And will I pine for the heft and shine of the 111?

...my answer is an unequivocal "Go with the PAM 111" from TWP, as you said.

And take advantage of the 50% off coupon to get yourself one of these three Mario Pacis (since you mentioned them specifically):

    Mario Paci Special Edition Cognac

    p74678344-2.jpg

    Mario Paci Decima (X) Bourgogne

    p399028370-2.jpg

Mario Paci XIII "3646" in Nero

    MP13_Black.jpg

...they will all look awesome eventually with your PAM 117, which is definitely quirky enough to buy later!

  8. :) Oh yes its the perfect demographic... Sorry Pug, what i actually ment was that its EXPENSIVE so they must be hurtin if they need to go to this level of expense. For those who dont know... Nascar is HUGE in the USA... its like hockey or football or like soccer over in Europe.

    HUGE, just huge yes.

However, this girl raised with Nigel Mansell battling it out every fortnight with Alain Prost, simply cannot get into NASCAR. I've tried. We have a world-class speedway in Homestead, built after the city was levelled post-Hurricane Andrew.

I went, saw, and just said, nhhuh-nhuh. And those are my people. Blue-collar, hard-working, hard-living, hard-loving Americans.

Didn't help that a tyre flew off a car, over the barriers, and landed within 30 yards of us... :p

  9. ok ya that makes sense.. advertising.. but wow they must be hurtin for people signing up when they need to advertise on a Nascar.

I thought that in the USA you got "drafted" and had to go into the amry or navy or whatever?

I know this is tongue-in-cheek, Lonnie, but just to clarify for those unaware -- neither the UK nor the US has compulsory "Dienst"/military type service, where young males do a year or so of military duty at the age of 18.

It's one of the few countries, in fact, where that's the case.

(In Germany, you can choose to opt out of the actual military and do some type of community service, but very few men actually refuse outright to serve. All the males in my family have, and my mother is from a traditional family who easily could use their pull to take them out as "conscientious objectors" or so)

I asked my boyfriend if he had to do so in Italy, being a dual Canadian-Italian citizen. He said, they haven't nabbed him yet! ;)

Im from Canada, we dont have wars up here LOL. I think we have an "army & navy" up here... but i think its a clothing store at the mall

    :p

Don Cherry weeps! And the Princess Patricia Regiment! Sissies.

  10. That would be really appriciated, thanks Vic !

It's almost 1:30 AM where you are, so I know you are going to bed. Forgive the rush job.

For the record, the Toscana Fiero and my PAM 177h are "married". They go together like ham and eggs, red states and bibles, Captain and Tennille.

But man, this combo looks GOOD. Thanks for opening up my eyes, Maxi! Looks like your gut instinct paid off (sorry I didn't see your earlier SOS).

    pam177maxiamber1sf3.jpg

    (More in the Wristies, Friday!)

  11. I have that strap on my Railmaster rep...it is great! You will definitely be very happy with it.

Now that is interesting, Defacto. Putting on PAM straps on other watches. Someone should post about this!

P.S.: TeeJay, I've had my eye on that very strap for a while! $179.00 divided by 2 = 89.5...never seen it lower...

P.P.S.: TeeJay, could you take a look at your PMs. I ask a followup question about your SC strap, since the link was missing. ;)

  12. Is this T3 rep made of Ti? I've been looking for Ti T3 rep for ages, couldn't find one...

I very much doubt it, Kokoko. I bought from a member in the RWG Sales section. Mineral glass, so doubt it would be Ti. Sorry about that.

It's eventually going to be my boyfriend's, because it's just TOO massive, and doesn't have the graceful, feminising lines of the PAM 47mms.

  13. Too good not to mention guys, but please excuse if this is bad form:

Timeconnection.biz is having ANOTHER 50% sale, via other rep watch forums. Please have a gander at exact details there, and do take advantage of the situation, strapaholics. I don't usually mention those other forum deals, but this is special.

I'm thinking of all of you who especially wanted the Senape (which I've been told has limited stocks), or the Fiero, but couldn't conceive forking out almost $200 for a strap.

Me, I'm deciding whether to go with GeF's La Spezia:

    LaSpezia_Cognac.jpg

Or, finally, the Mario Paci XI -- the Papaya:

    MPXI_Papaya_Brown.jpg

In 24mm, to be used primarily with my PAM 112. I would've chosen the Papaya already, if only for the fact that I favour reddish tones in straps.

But if you have any opinions either way, please let me know. :)

Update: All is well. To those that understand my meaning, you will know what a weight off my mind this is. I'll begin the Caper Part 5 tonight!

  14. OK, I'll add my 2 cents.

I'm a girl and the owner of 4 Pams which I truly enjoy,

    http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=21017&hl=

    ;)

and I think it's all about the lugs.

Almost agree. I think it's that and presence.

Doesn't matter if you are boy or girl, if the lugs extend beyond the edges of your wrist it's too big for you.

Sometimes I think Pugwash's watches are too big for him, but he looks great in them. To me, that counts too, yes? :)

  15. My take is that men aren't so much "overworked, emotionally starved, and unlucky in love" as much as that we are just easily amused.

More so than that -- you like to challenge. This is why male humour tends towards the childish, like fart sounds. :)

Again, neither here nor there to the topic at hand. Just thought I'd throw that out, so to speak.

Since childhood, boys are (for the most part) fascinated with Legos, toy cars, guns and swords, and of course, seeing how far they can pee (which has nothing to do with this post).

I think that has EVERYTHING to do with this post! Again, about challenge, even with the self.

Watches are yet another hobby that starts small and then winds out of control ... I know men who collect stamps, guitars, toy trains, masks, it goes on ... not necessarily because they're emotionally starved, more so because it's just in our nature. We are fascinated by how things work.

    Yes.

I'd just like to note that I collect militaria, and like my father, was a philatelist when young. I specialised in Romanian stamps. Don't ask.

And speaking of Veblan ... yes, a complete absence of vested interest and the absolute pursuit of pragmatic philosophy could make our economy more efficient, but it sure would be boring.

Utilitarianism would be just as boring, however laudable Jeremy Bentham calculated everything in its most logical form. There is something very cold and unnatural about such utopian people, like Bentham and Veblen.

I'm guessing this Chris guy spends thousands of dollars a year on computer gear, or music, or books, or 60" plasma TVs, or whatever.

RIGHT! I'm glad you brought that up. Although he does note he likes Patek Phillippe and B&R watches, at the end, which reforms him from mere self-righteous posturing.

In fact, from the looks of it, he spends a great deal of time working on perfecting his 80's hair-do.

LOL! An A. Whitney Brown effete intellectual Supercuts special.

    whitneybrown.jpg

But he sure is proud that he wears a $15 watch.

    Quite.

He is the reverse of what I would imagine 99% of us here are -- proud of always being practical above the mere consumer-numbing tastes of richies and poseurs, as he sees us.

I especially like his dig at athletes and their love of jewelry. The tiniest inference that these macho men are in truth closet cases.

  16. And the first guy she is seen bedding, a co-worker pilot, I do believe was wearing a Tag Aquaracer!! I'll try to get screenshots later, so Mr. By-Tor can have a gander.

    Well...so far, I got 2 out of 3 wrong.

I'm sure the old dude isn't wearing a Patek Nautilus. And Sofia Helin isn't wearing a Cartier Tank Americaine. In fact, I can't place the watch. Want to say it's an Ebel, or at least a Rado, but really, I think it looks like a Geneva or Kenneth Cole...

    ninafriskcartierfk5.jpg

But here are two screenshots of the possible Tag Heuer Aquaracer:

    ninafrisktagaquaracernb1.jpg

    closeuptagnfwm6.jpg

    What say the resident WISses?

  17. I knew a lady who Like, Love, Addict to Panerai. She's nice, passion, helpful & beautiful (that's only my imagination; because we never meet...). Her huge Panerai collection (Watch + different kind of strap) always make us jealous, amazing & shock!

She is a very good "role-model" for all women; Independent, Good Taste, Got her own life style, Willing to try & always the first one who step forward. She let me to understand "Nothing is Impossible".

So women shouldn't wear a Panerai? I don't think so.

    She got her nickname "V"

The compliment of a lifetime!! You're so sweet, Raymond! So wonderfully chivalrous.

I was born this way, thinking as you correctly say about my mindset, that "Nothing is Impossible". But living in America helps. The land where the impossible is just another way of saying, "momentary setback".

All I can say is thank you! :)

I shall return to the thread on my return from hospital. Dad comes back home today, yay!

  18. pam48a.jpg

    Now THAT is a nice pink croc-Panerai watch combo. O M F G. ;)

Seriously, if that's Mrs. Corpsman, you're a lucky guy. Nice rings at that! You must've mortgaged the family homestead to get her that eternity band, and three-pronged princess cut solitaire with baguette diamonds.

My mum's hobby is jewelry-design. She taught me well. :tu:
