  1. I e-mailed my Vintage Sub order to Jay on the 31st and got a reply in 24 hours, which is about his usual response time.

Hmm. Well, not sure what's going on, but maybe it has to do with the email header.

I entitled mine, "Summer Special payment", or similar. That's why he responded in the usual 24hrs, as you say, Carl.

The one thing that gets a collector's attention is the word payment, and if it's time sensitive, put that in too.

  2. <sarcasm>

eh, you say potato, I say, maybe we should embrace feebl..er Febus' North Korean propaganda signature block and smash imperialist tendencies...[...]</sarcasm>

WHOA! I had to scroll up because though I've seen that .sig cartoon endless times, I had completely ignored its message.

Anyway, Mars Attacks! already beat them to it. Ack ack ack ack.

  3. I think the porto chrono with blue or gold numbers would look great with the right nails

I'm leaning towards the Porto, I admit, FxrAndy!

I have read about these movement probs Corpsman mentioned though, so I am concerned. Big Pilot...not too sure, Plaifender. Maybe a Flieger.

  4. You beat me to it Andy.................

I usually bring two watches to Vegas. One blinged and the other super blinged. Lots of bling is intimidating at the poker table. Makes you look as though you could care less about the money. :whistling:

It's intimidating in any hi-power situation, like at a corporate conference table and in front of a JC chairwoman.

Just be careful with the bling-bling: others usually have the same idea, and if their bling is real, YOU will end up looking like a real schmuck. ;)

Honestly, in Vegas, I'd go with two watches. My best gen, and my best sports rep watch. This means my gen de Grisogno Instrumentino and possibly now, my Hublot White Magic.

A Rolex for either category doesn't hurt, and the good part is that you can get away with a good rep too.

  5. Because when you upgrade on RWG it's better than sex.

Makes your toes curl up in ecstacy? Check.

Makes you break out in a cold sweat and your breath hot and sticky? Check.

When finishing reading threads, you break out a cigarette, a Macanudo, or a Yoplait yoghurt?

What? Like I'm the only one who eats yoghurt, post-coitus. Come on!

  6. Um Victoria we have had many such raffles, where members pay real money for tickets to win watches that have been donated by the collectors, however there are other problems at the moment that make this less feasible right now.

    Ken

    Um, oops. :bicycle:

Thanks, Ken! Sorry to hear about the problems, but where there's an RWG, there's a way!

  7. I once said that I would never wear a Bell & Ross, an IWC, or a Breitling. Guess which one I'm backtracking on?

Looking at the IWC watches offered, I realised that it is a marque with innate class. Everything about it screams quality and restraint. I'm intrigued -- the Sophie Marceau photo helped.

    300702-2530.jpg

In short, which IWC model would YOU think would go well with me? :)

  8. Hi Highflyingclive,

I think the price went up for the Pam 005 from Trevor....now 100 dollar for the firts one, and 120 for the second Pam 005 on his site.....

    Inflation.......

Still, not a bad price as FxrAndy says, but for the fact that the "mosca" (thanks Sssurfer, hehe) or the logo is all wrong, and the printing is quite wonky, right?

I also coincidentally see Trevor's stuff being resold a little more often than I'd like, on RWI/Repgeeks. If something is good, you hang on to it, especially at those dead-cheap prices.

  9. I think betrayal ruins friendships quicker than politics.

And for some people, having the exact opposite beliefs than you do, that form your very view of the world, that are the foundation of all your practical beliefs about the way the world will go, ruins that friendship faster than you can say Strom Thurmond Wore Women's Underpants.

Politics are a corrosive. They corrode everything around one, ruining the atmosphere forever.

  10. Never been!.....one place everyone must go before their end......just spectacular in many many ways.....I like your choices V....now, about that 28 black.......

Right, 28 black. I always get the nomenclature wrong! Anyway, this is a funny story. The Florida Panthers once had a bruising defender (and black Canadian from Montreal) called, Peter Worrell. Miss Sports-fanatic over here was listening to a post-game interview one time, and he mentioned he was off to Vegas. Ended the interview with, "Don't forget. Always bet on 28 black".

Obviously, his number was 28. And he was black. :)

Won about U$ 1200 in Monte when I let it ride twice on 28 black. Woo, chung-a-lugga! Have fun, babe!

  11. Okay, so I'm going to Vegas tomorrow for four days, and I need suggestions. I will be going to a nice restaurant one night, and possibly a show another........casual clothes the rest of the time tho......I have in my limited collection: Omega Seamaster pro black...Omega Railmaster XXL in SS on brown leather......Omega UPO....(kinda like Omegas I guess).....Omega AT in blue face SS....Breitling SOSF in blue face SS....and last but not least....Chopard Grand Tourismo white face with black rubber.........so I know you guys (and gals) have opinions,....so lets hear em!

Never been to Vegas. Everything I know comes from second-hand sources like my parents, or reading Frank Sinatra's biographies BUT...

    Suggestions

You need a workhorse watch. Omega UPO will do.

You need a bling-bling watch. Breitling SOSF seems closest.

You need an elegant watch. Railmaster. Wear this to Tourneau in the Bellagio.

(Correction: Caesars Palace not Bellagio! Thanks to those who didn't correct, except by inference below)

Have fun! Always bet on black 28.

  12. - raffle : no risk

    A) Where is my personality profile??

B ) I thought about PMing Admin asking about a raffle, but then I realised I am not willing to part with any of my watches YET. However, maybe others are. :)

But also, if you actually pay real moneys towards buying virtual "tickets" for a watch, or similar, it could present problems. This is kinda circumvented at RWI and Repgeeks, because they earn money for posts, which in turn is used during raffles for watches. Thus, it would look very odd and cheap indeed if someone complained a watch they won didn't work, etc.

That would not be the case, as much, on a watch we had all paid good money for...but hey, maybe we could all sign a waiver before buying the "ticket", or someone could step up to fix said watch, if something goes wrong.

Ideas...ideas...ideas. Just floating it out there.

  13. Please guys, I'm looking at an additional job to make some cash to get one of these watches

    Anything goes.

    I need around 1.800$

Uh, are you asking us what you should do to get a fast $1800? :)

Depending on your educational and/or skill level, and/or back strength, and/or time limit:

    - Taxi driver.

    - Furniture removal guy.

    - Set up a beachside "hair cutting" chair, and charge 10 euros per haircut for 2 weekends (maximum 5 minutes per cut).

These are all the things I can think of where those pesky French unions won't have your hide, without L'Etat getting you, plus you'll need a minimum of experience to do, earning decent money for all.

  14. Cable box when at home. Cell phone when on the road.

    Good question.

    Similar to Kruzer00.

I have a triangulation of sources when I set my Panerais (16 and counting). Computer clock synchronised with .gov source. Then I look up to the cable box to confirm, comparing it at the same time to my mobile time. As I set each watch (doesn't take but 5 minutes total for all -- I'm fast), I am looking at all three in rapid succession.

Utterly doollally, obviously, but there you are.

(Oh, and I wind each PAM 30 times. No more, no less)

  15. Emailed him again, and did some name dropping as well vb ;)

Lets hope he gets it this time. I included my order code, as well as the item number and description just in case.

Good show. Just checked my email before replying here:

"We are testing ur watches now, if all go well, will post them on Tueday. I will contact Aegis. Thx. We do noit always work on weekend, I would say about half/half. Nice weekend."

So, he works every other weekend, and is aware at least of your forum ID. I mentioned that because it might form part of your email ID, as it does mine. :)

  16. Nothing ruins friendships quicker and embitters potential friendships more in the modern Western world than politics. NOTHING. Not religion. Not money. Not sport.

Moreover, this test is asinine. Either you come out near the Dalai Lama. Or Pinochet -- proving yet again what my history profs always told me, "consider the source".

  17. Hi Victoria, nice to know I'm missed!

Of course! Not just by me, either.

I stopped just short of adding you to the "AWOL RWGers" thread I posted, lamenting the presences lost of such worthies as Euno, Ubi, and Rima.

It was a busy week at work and my oldest started school this week.

Ahh, right, the dreaded going back to school. The tears. The tantrums. The endless forlorn goodbyes in the car, clinging to the jacket not wanting to let go.

And the kids are just as bad.

But I did manage to snap a few new pix. I have a number of projects  in the works and will share them as the progress.

NICE! Projects are always fun to follow. It's the one thing which seems to separate a gen WIS from a rep WIS, to the rep WIS' credit.

P.S.: We have Youtube capability now!

  18. As an aside, I mentioned Aegis specifically in my payment email to him, but also asked him to PLEASE honour the late late August 31 orders

Aegis, heads up. Got a reply from Jay a few seconds ago:

"WHo's Aegis? I havenot got his email yet. Please ask him to resend to me. Really apreciate ur help. Nice weekend."

So please email him back! :)

I suppose that goes for a lot of you, so take this as a form of public service announcement, chaps.

  19. If u ever deal with silix before. U know he normally dont reply on weekends.... but u wil probably get a reply on monday

etc... he seems pretty good. He also honor a special for that price for me as well..

As an aside, I mentioned Aegis specifically in my payment email to him, but also asked him to PLEASE honour the late late August 31 orders...so who knows, maybe if you guys order today he might allow that too.

@Mattheis: Puffy would freak! You can only roll in his posse wearing Jacobs.

  20. We are so rude we did not even welome the man that is obviously VB's ex-husband.

17 posts in one day?? He's my brother not ex! ;)

Admin, if such a thing as making one comment inside a thread be a sticky, this would be it:

    "UB7 Welcome to the board.

You will find that this forum will provide you a wealth of knowledge on the subject of reps. Keep in mind that the information you recieve comes at a cost to some. I refer to the people who own and run this board. After you feel comfortable with the idea of contributing the option of upgrading your membership to VIP status will offer you even more than you currently experience and your financial contribution will go a long way to keeping the board up and running as a very useful resource in the future.

Also, you may want to give the search function a workout - I have found it very useful.

Come back and post often. Cheers"

This is a textbook reply on how to answer these questions. Making it clear how things stand but also -- Gracious. Kindly. Welcoming.

Perfection. Raijor, thanks. You're wonderful. George, you too, big thanks.
