  1. "German police are hunting a housewife on murder charges after she allegedly told her children she had flushed their father down the toilet. The man, a taxi-driver, vanished three weeks ago. Police in the western city of Dusseldorf believe the wife, 52, chopped him up and disposed of 100 kilograms of body parts in garbage bins and down the toilet. The Muslim couple hated one another."

    Duhhh, she was a Muslim...

She would have got her brothers, uncles and father to do it for her

    ;)

  2. Well firstly i must blame WBK(from repgeek) for this, him and his 'good deals' motivated me to bite the PAM bullet and add this to the other few reps i already own....

Seeing as it was somewhat of an impulse buy i didnt research the model prior but now that i have im thinking its a tad 'fantasy' due to not being able to find the same wording except on a brushed model(PAM36?), but maybe someone here could clarify...

great value and apparently has the swan neck bridge and regulator(not that im 100% sure what that means :g: )

anyway, its also my 1st quick(5 min) attempt at a couple of watch photos until i can put together a light tent, so be kind :D

    Thanks for reading

    SBOB

I'm not sure if it's a fantasy model, but it is really nice :)

I don't know enough to tell you if it is indeed a fantasy model or not but I can tell you I like it!

How's the bracelet? Thinking about a 111 on one and am still yet to actually get my hands on one for a 'feel'.

I'd highly recommend them. They add a whole new dimension to the watch, and, if anything, make the watch 'wear smaller' on the wrist, as the eye follows the top of the bracelet to the edge of the case, where, following the top of a strap just goes to partway up the lugs, and the rest of the watch then 'looms' above it ;)

  3. Hey All,

Does anyone here know what the term "Advised" stands for on Parcelforce's website?

    Thanks!

    Moi B)

I think it means that they know a parcel's on it's way to them, but not actually in their posession yet... The only problem I've ever had with parcel force delivering something, was when someone (somehow) read the last letters of my postcode, as numbers :o The parcel wound up at the wrong depot, but, as I contacted them that day, it was recalled and delivered withing a day or so. I forget if it was delivered the next day from my call, or the day after that, but that was all. Other than that, they've been pretty solid :)

  4. Congratulations Tee!

The wife and I got married this past June. We had 600 people at the shin-dig...and I would have rather done the Online thing. ha ha ha!

Regardless...marriage is cool. Best of everything for you two!!!!

Next comes the online virtual kids. :o:lol::p

Thanks, and congratulations to you too :)

Who needs kids, we have guinea pigs ;)

Congrats Congrats Congrats! Wishing the two of you all the best for this new chapter in life! And here's a 'virtual' CHEERS!!

    Thanks, it's much appreciated :)

  5. Congratulations...That's fantastic :thumbsupsmileyanim:

It'd probably be appropriate if you go ahead and consummate you nuptials with a webcam :winkiss:

    Thanks :)

I think that'd have to be 'pay per view' only ;) We were in the same place when we filled out the form, indeed, we each had a hand on the mouse, ala "cutting the cake-style" to click "I do" ;) In all fairness, although it was an 'online marriage', it was not one of long distance, but most convenient and cheap (read 'free' ) method, rather than necessity through seperation ;)

  6. Gutted. I had pinned all my hopes on you.

Just kidding, darling. My God, what a stunning thing this is -- married (who cares how/why/when).

CONGRATULATIONS! I wish you and Emily blessings for a serene future together!! :)

Hee hee  Thanks again :)

  8. Give me a shout if you need a minister. I've been an ordained minister for about a decade now.

That'd be awesome, thanks for the offer :) We were only ever planning a civil ceremony, so indeed, that would be perfect :) Of course, any 'real world' weddings won't be for a year or so, but the offer is much appreciated :)

  9. What's the plumbing like at your place?

    Please check in regularly.

We have running water and an indoor toilet :yeah:B)

so you can virtually get married...what about divorcing?

Well, this is from the blessing email:

Via this email, we pronounce you husband and wife. Regardless of your race, language or faith, from this day forward, you will feel no rain, for each of you will be shelter for the other. You will feel no cold, for each of you will be warmth to the other. There will be no loneliness, for each of you will be companion to the other. From this day, you are two persons, with only one life before you. Your hopes and dreams are now intermingled, and you will strive for harmony through compromise and forgiveness.

May beauty surround both of you in the journey ahead and through all the years. May happiness be your companion and your days together be full of tenderness, commitment and understanding.

Congratulations and thank you for registering your marriage with us. Although this email document has no legal significance, we hope you will treat it with respect, print it out, and hang it in an honored place at home.

Please note that this marriage is indissoluble and regardless of the direction your relationship takes after this day, this marriage will be a permanent record of your life's most romantic moment, beautifully engraved in history. In other words, there is no such thing as divorce at iROM.org, and your commitment is forever.

Probably because it's not legally binding, so no need to be dissoluble. That said, the Islamic procedings for divorce should still work, not that that's part of the plan

  10. Man, Is there anything you *CAN'T* do on the intertubes?

Congrats Mate. Don't let people try to talk you out of the "real" deal when it comes time... if you've got the right partner, best decision you could ever make.

And if you missed it above... congrats!

    Thanks :)

I think the interwebs make pretty much anything possible

There'll definitely be a 'real' wedding at some point, but, this is certainly good enough for now. The email we received was very nice :)

    Thanks again :)

  11. So Emily and I were talking about the partnerships, marriages, extended engagements, common-law habitations etc of her co-workers last night, and we wondered if it would be worth simply getting married, rather than delaying things for financial reasons, and just have a reception in the future. I recalled that people could be ordained online, and perform marriages, so I wondered if people could get married online...

A quick google search revealed a site offering such facility

All that was required, was that we fill in our names, and email addresses, and then, akin to the classic 'cutting the cake pictures', we clicked on the "I do" button

Okay, so the site does state that it is not legally binding, but, we did receive a very nice 'marriage blessing' via email, so until we can afford a nice 'proper' wedding, a virtual one shall suffice ^_^

    [Edit for spelling]

  12. I wasnt stating he does or doesnt, just letting the person asking the question know what Josh was meaning.

    Natron

I understand that, but Joshua's comment was incredibly vague. He might have meant, that he does not QC. He might have meant, that he does not drop ship. He did not actually state which. I was simply highlighting a post which showed that Joshua is a known drop-shipper. Maybe his business practices have changed since that comment was posted.

  13. Freeloaders with over 2000 posts who have taken advantage of the fantastic information in this great website without contributing one red cent bug me. Just my personal point of view which can easily change when cheapskates pony up the dough.

Passive/aggressive people who assume the role of forum jester bug me, but that has nothing to do with reps. Nor does your post.

    Note to self:

    Thanks Double T, much appreciated.

  14. TJ it is down to the quality of the application technique, I was just trying to illustrate the differences, if it makes the dial look blue/purple it is not a true AR coat.

To bring it back on topic I am pretty forgiving of minor faults, half the fun of this hobby is trying to correct them but I cant stand faux chrono's!

I understand that there could be differences in quality of the application technique, but, even optical-grade applications (glasses) are not entirely without reflection of some kind... I have to admit, given the quality of lume applications done by Ziggy (smooth as silk), compared to what has been seen on some gen PAMs (pretty bumpy) I have to wonder (and this isn't directed at you at all) if sometimes people have unreasonably high expectations from watches... I remember reading on a gen forum where someone was complaining that the hands of their Submariner didn't always line up 100% to the thousandth of an inch with the markings each time, but it was a Real Rolex ( ) They were pretty much laughed off the forum for such an unreasonably high expectation... ;)

On the topic, I'd agree with the faux chronos. I'd point out that I don't mind if they perform afunction (ie date counter), but frozen dials just bug me

  15. Buy a gun,just kidding.

My advice is buy a dog a german shepard,Rottweiler,Pitbull terrier is a NO NO they er wimp dogs when it comes to guard work i have also on my suggestion list mallonois,Cane Corso all great familiy dogs but also tuff guard dogs..

And they will stick by you for life and if needed give their life for you..

I absolutely agree 100% My absolute first choice dog (hopefully, I'll be able to have one oneday)

With friends, family and kids, you get this:

    rottweiler.jpg

If someone tries to [censored] with said friends, family and kids, they get this:

    Angry_Rottweiler_01.jpg

I plan on starting off with one of these:

  16. I'm also a newbie and I will be purchasing this exact same watch from Davidsen very soon but I have to post and say something on this issue...

namely, we are buying contraband - even though we hear of good things from specific 'dealers', they are just that - dealers who are helpful in this respect because they are either good guys or want to keep a good reputation but ultimately, they have no real responsibilities after you receive the watch.

The fact we are buying contraband is irrelevent. These people are businessman, the nature of their commodity is irrelevent. Dealers who are considered 'trusted collectors' have that position because of the quality of the service which they provide. If they want to stay in business, and want customers to trust them, then that means providing gaurantees on their product, and making replacements on faulty purchases.

Would you as a seller of any goods be comfortable to send out your goods to customers on a promise of a return? I know I wouldn't and neither would (m)any stores I know of unless they know the customer beforehand or had collateral.

He is offering to replace the watch for you, I'm not sure what more you want - remember, these are not normal shops or products; they are dealers in contraband.

This is where it becomes slightly more complicated.

He has offered to replace the watch case, which is scratched. That is good business, and, as with most dealers, comes under the catagory or replacing a faulty product. But. This is where the fun begins... Was the damage to the straps (which is undeniable) caused because the case was scratched, and thus having sharp edges, or because the strap was simply fitted too tightly to the case (by way of closer lug-holes) ? If it was caused by scratches on the case, then I would feel that some level of compensation towards the straps, which were damaged by faulty product, would be in order. If it was caused simply because the fit was tight, then that's unfortunate, but not the fault of the product, or the dealer.

Again, the fact that they are dealing in contraband is irrelevent. They are operating businesses, and taking people's money. Money people have to work hard to earn. In that respect, if they wish to retain their status of 'trusted collectors', then it is in their interests to maintain positive customer relations, and to stand by their product in terms of after-sales care and returns.

Daniel Craig summed it up perfectly in L4yer Cake:

I mean it's like selling anything; washing machines, hand-made shoes, blow-jobs: As long as you don't take the [censored], people will always come back for more.

From a personal position, I wouldn't have gone so public about this without at least letting Davidsen remedy the problem, as he said he would. Only after that is done and failed then I would've asked for advice on the forums.

Sorry if I come across harsh or unreasonable, but that is my personal opinion. :p

Well, opinions are just opinions, we're all entitled to our own. As above, the remedy from Davidsen would depend on the nature of the problem (ie was there a problem with the case, yes or no... If yes, did the problem cause the damage to the straps, yes or no... If yes, compensation would be appropriate, if no, then mere replacement of the case would be all that they, as a supplier, would be obliged to do.) Of course, it would be good PR to throw in a free strap as compensation, but that would be upto Davidsen's descretion, and not for a client (or community) to insist upon. Let the issue be judged on the facts as they are, and dealt with accordingly.

I hope everything gets worked out in a mutually satisfactory way :)

PS Welcome to the party :)

  17. No worries TJ, I have a pannie with the purple coat and I have reps that are supposed to have very good AR. The best way to describe it is that the crystals I have had recoated (Chieftang) the dials look black as if the crystal is not there.

    conor_9_57.jpg

If you look at the above photo the two in the middle have been recoated and the one on the left (063) has no AR and the one on the right (PO) has what is said to be one of the better AR coats.

There really is a considerable difference between the IWC, PAM and the Omega... Are the other two double-coats and the PO single-sided? Or, is the difference just a different quality of application?

I understand what you are saying about the AR greatly reducing reflections and a light source directly reflected will always be there and no I don't wear glasses but I'll be buggered if I would choose the purple coat on them if I did.

To be honest, I'm not sure where the color choice in the coats comes in. All the lenses I've seen in glasses, all have a greenish reflection, where the AR in watches varies incredibly from yellows, all the way through to purples. The only reason I asked if you wore glasses with AR, was that it is the easiest way of demonstrating AR's performance, in both it's qualities and limitations. :)
