  1. Personally, for everyday wear, I prefer my PAMs on brown/tan straps. That said, they (as a brand) do look awesome on black straps. I think black straps certainly look more formal than brown/tan straps. Last saturday, when I wore my 127 on a borrowed black strap, despite it's size, it looked really smart (I wish I'd had time to take wrist shots) and went great with my outfit. When I see the PAMs on black straps, I think of the catalogue shots on the official website :)

  2. As mentioned, Panerai. The first 111h I bought, I wasn't over impressed with (possibly due to the strap color) and equally, the first 127 I bought, I initially felt was too big. I would point out, that although I have no problems now wearing the 127 during the day, at night, or rather, in the dark, the huge luminous numbers in the shadow of my wrist do still appear somewhat 'oversized', but I don't care, I love it

  3. Given enough notice, and the overall logistics, I'd be interested. I took German at school, and, although it's been nearly 10 years since I had to speak German (visiting the Rheine Valley) I was able to get by with what I'd learned, and found that more came back to me as the holiday progressed, so I think I'd be okay :)

Indeed, Germany is an excellent suggestion for location. Another I would make mention of (simply as it is my favorite European country) would be Belgium, as I've always found that to be a lovely place to visit :)

  4. As I've never been overly concerned about the level of fidelity in replication in watches, I'll just comment on the appeal of Panerai watches, and say that they do take some getting used to, but you will get used to them. Sometimes you might even not like the watch initially, give it away, and then later get another (done that with both 111h and 127 models) Sometimes you will start off thinking "I won't wear a 47mm watch everyday" (I thought that too ) but, oneday, you will find yourself wearing a 127, and it will suddenly feel like the only watch you want to wear. When I went to my fiance's work's christmas party on saturday, I was wearing my 127 on a borrowed strap to match my shoes. With a lot of people in the room, it soon got very hot, so my jacket came off, and my sleeves got rolled back a way for comfort. I didn't get any compliments on my watch, but it did get some interested glances, and, it certainly stood out from the Fossils and other 'fashion watches' which were being sported, and it 'felt' perfect on my wrist: I could not think of another watch which I would have prefered to have worn :) All I can say with PAMs, is give them time, and you will love them :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  5. I would never wish that on anybody my friend. I have never taken a polygraph test and I was nervous as hell, but answered all the questions truthfully. Naturally, questions were asked that made me uncomfortable, "Were you attracted to her pictures," quite frankly Yes, but I never had intentions to sleep with the broad. I cannot even imagine taking one ever year, but hey if you have nothing to hide then i guess it might be okay.

You are most welcome. The 183H is being completed tonight!

    Cheers

I totally sympathise with you on that. I get on extremely well with my fiance's mother. We're both Libras, so in terms of pure personality, we get on, dare I say, better than I get on with my fiance, simply because we have incredibly similar opinions/reactions to things. My fiance is well aware that, before we got together, I was seeing a woman considerably older than me, so every so often, will accuse me of fancying/having an affair with her mother. To be honest, it's a hard situation as, if I turn round and outright say that I don't find her mother attractive, she'd know I was lying, but of course, that doesn't mean that anything would ever happen. I guess it's just one of those 'no win' situations... Glad to hear it's all working out for you though :)

    PS

Awesome work on the watch, I can't wait to let you get to work on mine :) (Come on payday :thumbsupsmileyanim: )

  6. This has and always will be a Caveat emptor market. Buyers or users of Modding services need to do their homework.

Who was it who said "Choose you dealer.....then choose your watch" B)

There is a wealth of knowledge in and around this board. Search for reviews, etc. or ask a fellow supporter that has been here for a while before comitting your dollars to a dealer or modder.

On RWG, you don't choose Dealer, Dealer chooses you... :shutup2:

    ;)

As you say though, the information is all here, all one need do is read reviews and ask questions before comitting to a course of action :)

  7. Hey Guys!

Mikey is right, the gen dial had bad lume so it was redone to match the new hands. Yes, the hands are red and the dial markers are more red then orange. It looks to match perfectly. Again, the bezel lume is green, whilst dial lume is more milky white, when its glowing the color is the same. Apparently this is like the gen also!

Gen dial has correct color markers and correct M in Seamaster, small but to me important.

Rep crown/step, will be gen when I get a service on the movement. No changes to crystal, i believe its 100% like the gen

i love the watch, looks fantastic!

    :)

Ahh, I wondered if that might've been the reason :)

  8. Animal cruelty is probably the thing I hate most in the world. I'd rate someone who was cruel to an animal as being lower than a child molester, as animals can't even tell someone what has happened to them, and they rely on us for their protection. That said, I do not have any problem eating meat or wearing leather products, as using leather goods, means that even if an animal is killed for it's meat, the 'leftovers' are not going to waste. I have the same approach to animal testing for medicines (but NOT for cosmetics etc) if it were not for animal testing for medicinal purposes, then there are many people in the world today who would be dead, or have a severely impaired quality of life. Such research, as the law prevents doctors researching on criminals, is a sad necessity. Hopefully oneday, it will no longer be a necessity.

Actually, given the cost of leather goods compared to the cost of meat, maybe meat is really a by-product of the leather industry, and we've just been duped into thinking we need to eat it ;)

  9. TJ; Good idea :tu:

    Thanks ^_^

Following discussions about previous PAW(s) and customs, I have something I'll be quite happy to donate to the cause from my vacation to Spain. A transparent plastic Submariner-like watch. 100% Quartz, gen plastic crystal, and utterly [censored] pearl

Joking asside, it looks pretty nice. Black dial (similar proportions to the Rolex Maxi-dial, but small hands) black bezel (with 12-3 section in red) and it's mounted on a tan leather strap which was made locally. All in all, it's pretty cheap and nasty, but it shouldn't cause any issues with customs. If anyone feels the need to modify it, then feel free

  10. I'm still wearing this, but, it's now officially 'made it' as my regular wear watch, relegating the PVD 111g to a 'wardrobe matching' watch, with the 111h (when I get it back) It might be too large to easily go under a shirt cuff, the crystal might distort the markers, and the gold hands might not be as subtle as the hands on a Marina, but damn it's a nice watch :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  11. I have a huge favor to ask. On saturday, I'm going to my fiance's work's Christmas do, and that means dressing up nicely. I have my outfit ready, and want to wear my 127, but don't have a black strap for it. If anyone could lend me a black 26/26 strap, which they could mail to arrive for saturday, I would be extremely greatfull, and will post the strap back on Monday with a nice crisp

  12. I'd say Classic, but I'd clarify that by saying 'simplicity' is more my preference. My taste in watches has certainly evolved over the past year where, this time last year, I'd been wearing my Sub for a while, and looking to get an Omega as a replacement, settling on the Planet Ocean as seen in Casino Royale. For a while, it was fun wearing "James Bond's watch", but I began to develop a taste for the extreme simplicity of the PAMs... Just to touch on size, I've found that the first time I tried on watches of PAM size, I initially felt they were a bit too big, and would go back to the Sub-size. Then I bought the Planet Ocean Big Size, and didn't have a problem with it. The first time I wore a PAM, I wasn't immediately 'grabbed by the balls' by it, and when returning one with a faulty power reserve, swapped it for an Omega as a gift, and didn't order another 111h for some time. When I did re-order a 111h, I absolutely loved it. So much so, that I've hardly worn my Planet Ocean since it arrived... When I first tried on a 127 (originally intended as my birthday watch) I felt it was nice, but too large for 'everyday wear', and, as the CG Lever had a flaw, that was returned and exchanged for a PVD 111g, which I adapted to incredibly quickly, but, did feel that it 'wore smaller' than it's SS Twin, simply because of the color difference. An unexpected commission, and I decided to treat myself to another 127 as a collection item/occasional wear watch, but, as with my first experience with the 111h, where it didn't immediately grab me, this time, it did indeed, and it has become a firm favorite. I'd go so far as to say that, unless I had to wear a suit, it might even be my 'daily wear' watch. All the time it's worn with a T Shirt or rolled sleeves, the size isn't such an issue, and, dial wise, I prefer the aesthetic of the combined 111/112 dial, and prefer the sandwich layers rather than the sausage dial on the PVD 111g. Fortunately, my fiance (who bought the 111g for me) feels the 127 looks better, so I can wear it without fear of being called ungreatful over my birthday present  All I need now, is the bordeaux strap, and it'll be perfect :) Is the watch big? Obviously  Does it dwarf my wrist or 'go over the edges'? Not at all. Most of all though, (even with the second sweep) it still has incredibly clean, simple lines, which, although not an 'Oyster-style' dive watch, it certainly still has the feel of a 'classic watch' :)

  13. Clockwise, mostly (if you concentrate on her head. If you concentrate on her legs, anti-clockwise).

And yes, I get "it".

Actually, I found both feet and head to be rotating clockwise. It was only by really concentrating, that I could get the anti-clockwise rotation.

That said, like John Steed, I prefer my tea stirred anti-clockwise ;)
